Surrender.

Azula slowly rose to her feet, the growing pain in her lower half of her body demanded her to use the black sword in her hands as leverage. She looked to her left and saw how the even weaker form of her enemy pushed himself up to his knees with much difficulty. He was bleeding heavily from his arm which was now absent of its lower half and a deep wound in his lower back. Azula heard him cough with pain, the coughs grew to sound wet as she knew blood was spilling from his mouth. Azula clenched her teeth as she began to make her way infront of him. Once there, she masked the pain with determination as she placed the sharp end of the blade under his chin and slowly forced him to look up at her. Determined blue eyes clashed with fierce gold ones as the two regarded eachother, the same eyes that once held an unquestionable love for the other stared at eachother once more. “Yield.” Azula demanded. “This fight over, you’ve lost… accept it.”

He laughed and winced at the pain it caused. “This isn’t over… yet.” He hissed.

“Look around you, fool!” Azula spat, motioning her free arm to their surroundings. “You’re foces are spent, your tactices have failed… and now you, their leader, lay on his knees bloody at my mercy… face it Sokka, it’s over.”

Sokka shook his head. “It’s not over… not yet.” He repeated, he looked back up at her with an intense glare.

“Yield!” Azula hissed once more matching his glare squarely. Sokka turned his gaze away and looked at his surroundings. He saw the carnage, the desolation, the fires that now burn in the fire nation capitol. But those fires weren’t enough, not if he wanted to end this war. Sokka paused as his eyes settled on the lifless form of his younger sister with a spear through her chest, a pool of blood surrounding her. Sokka closed his eyes, he was right this war isn’t over yet, but it will be. “I never lied to you…”

Azula was taken slightly aback by what he said, not knowing what he meant. “What are you talking about?”

“All those nights we shared together… all those intimate moments we had… everything I told you I felt for you… it was all real.” Azula could only stare at him, mouth slightly open and her eyes wide. “When I told you, that I loved you… I meant everyword of it… hell, I still love you even now after everything thats happened.” Azula felt her breath hitch in her throught, not knowing how to respond to this, in the situation they were currently in… why would he tell her this now? “I will always love you…”

“LIES!” Azula yelled, unable to hear anymore, not wanting to hear anymore. “YOU NEVER LOVED ME… YOU NEVER DID, I KNOW EVERYTHING YOU SAY IS A LIE!”

Sokka turned his gaze back to meet her intense glare, his eyes held nothing of the determination it once did but instead they held… saddness and honesty. “Look in to my eyes and tell me you still think I’m lying.”

Azula looked and saw the truth. She shook her head vigourously and held the blade to his neck once more. “YEILD!”

Sokka shook his head, in both defiance and defeat. “No.”

Azula’s breathing quickened slightly, her hands trembled. “Please, Sokka… yeild!” She began to plead. “This doesn’t have to end this way… please.”

Sokka again looked at her. “Tell me, if I were to surrender… would you and youre father allow my people to live in peace?” Azula didn’t answer, couldn’t. Thats all Sokka needed to know. “I thought so… today, there will be no celebrations to your victory, there will be no prize for the fire nation… infact there will be no victory.” Sokka coaghed up some blood at the end of his statement.

Azula then began to make her way behind him, his sword still in her hands. “Then… I am forced to do what I must!” She stated, raising the blade over her head, tears in her eyes as she did so.

“As… am I.” Sokka whispered with a small tear running down his cheek and grabbed the spiritual pendant from his belt. He whispered something into it and then crushed it with the little strength he had left.

Azula drove the sword down through his back and impaled Sokka’s heart. Sokka’s eyes went wide for a quick moment before shutting close, one final breath of life left his body. Azula removed the sword and watched how his body collapsed forward, lifless.

Azula simply stood there for a moment, her tears still ever present. She dropped the sword and let it fall with a clank. Azula soon followed after it, her legs unable to support her weight any longer. Azula lookked at her surroundings, and as if for the first time, saw all the destruction, death, and pain this war has brought. She was horrofied. ‘We did this…’ She thought to herself, the we being the fire nation, her father, and herself. Azula then layed her eyes upon the headless body of her older brother, beside him was the Kyoshi warriors corpse with one of her arms reaching for her brothers body, but it seems death claimed her before she got to him. Azula felt sick to her stomach, she reached with a weak arm to the back of her hair and pulled off the head piece that held her bun in place. She glared at the fire symbol, before tossing it aside. Her raven locks fell freely as she allowed a long held back tears fall freely.

“AAAAHHHH!!!!” Azula looked up at the sound of the earthshaking scream of pain. She then felt how the world around her seemed to shake violently and the sound of an explosion echoed. Thats when she saw it, the white light radiating so much heat she could feel it even at the distance she was at. She wittnessed how the light grew and grew from its place in the port city below the capitol. She watched how everything in the lights path was desintigrated. Buildings, tanks, soilders, civilians, everything was being eradicated as it continued its path up to the capitol. Azula wasn’t afraid, she simply watched as it made its way to her. Azula pushed herself forward and turned Sokka’s body so he would be on his back, she held him close, cradling his body. Azula placed her forhead on his and waited. She remenisened on how he once use to hold her, she remembered all the sweet things he would say to her, she rememered his jokes, his laugh, his touch, his passion. But what she remembers most is what he always told her, the one she never said to him. Azula closed her eyes tight and allowed more tears to fall. “I love you.” Azula whispered, knowing he would never hear her say it. “Forgive me…” Azula then planted a loving kiss on his now cold lips. The screams got louder, and the heat grew more intense, but Azula paid it no attention she simply continued her act.

The last thing Azula felt was a searing pain, and an agonising boiling heat as her body and Sokkas’ was consumed by the light. And then… there was nothing. The white light expanded and destroyed the entire capitol, aswell as other parts of the fire nation.

Now… this fight was over.

Come back to us. Avatar the last airbender, Street gangs AU.

Bleep… Bleep… Bleep… Bleep.

The rythmic sound of the hospital machines was all Azula could concentrate her attention on, for the constant beeping of the life monitor was all that kept Azula in reassurance that the man laying unconscious before her was still kicking.

Azula had pulled up one of the guest chairs, and found herself drawing circles on his hand, free of wires, her head laying atop her left arm as she looked at his face. She hated seeing him like this, vulnerable and broken. She examined every detail of his features and couldn’t help but wish that he would open his eyes and look at her with his mischievous and intelligent blue eyes. She wished his voice would replace the sound of the life monitors constant beeping, she wished he would grace her with one of his terrible corny jokes that no matter what anyone said she found herself laughing and genuinely find him funny. She wished he would hold her as if she were the most precious jewl in the world how he would always do. She wished he would wake up so she could apologize to him for the fight she had caused just before he was shot. She wished he would wake up so she could tell him just how much he really meant to her… She just wished he would wake up.

Azula had to turn her face downward to her arm in order to stifle a sob and wipe away tears that had formed in her eyes. “Please… don’t leave me to…” Azula mumbled into her arm. She looked at Sokka’s unconscious form once more, tears falling freely from her eyes and running down her cheeks. She rose to her feet and leaned down to plant a gentle kiss on the edge of his lips Which were parted due to the oxygen tube in his mouth. “You cant leave us like this… you have to keep fighting… think about your Gran – gran, about your little sister Katara… think about Foo Foo, think about everyone you’d be leaving behind…. Please, Sokka, please, just come back to us… come back to me.” Azula pleaded in a small voice that only she and Sokka could hear. She continued to lay gentle kisses as well as gently stroke her thumb on the edges of his jawline. Azula straightened herself before gently as to not disturb any of the medical equipment, she snuggled herself right beside Sokka, his hand in hers as she draped her jacket over herself. She laid her head on his shoulder and snuggled into the crook of his neck. “You’ll be okay… I know you will be, and I promise you, I’ll be right by your side, and when you wake up… I’m not letting you out of my sight.” Azula whispered, hoping Sokka was listening. She planted one last kiss on him before whispering. “I love you.” And with that she shut her eyes, her still firmly grasping Sokka’s. She fell fast asleep before she could notice how Sokka’s hand momentarily tightened around hers as if a response to Azula’s words. The only sound in the hospital rooms echoing interior was a rythmic life monitor. Bleep… Bleep… Bleep…

(After a certain incident. Azula finds herself looking after Sokka, who is hospitalised and is in a coma after being shot twice. Azula finds that she can’t help but relic in the treasured moments she shared with him, and wish he would just wake-up.) Dirty Deeds AU.

Sokka opens the door to his bedroom, he smiles as he finds his girlfriend soundly sleeping in his bed, Foo Foo snuggled closely to her as Azula holds the small pitbull in her arms. Sokka contently and gently gets into bed, trying not to wake the young woman. Foo foo notices the movement in the bed, and greets his owner with his tail happly wagging. “It’s good to see you to buddy, go back to sleep.” Sokka saise as he gently pets the small animals head. As Sokka was about lay down beside Azula, he felt how a hand took a grip on his, Sokka looked down to see Azula’s hand holding his, the young woman still soundly sleeping. Sokka smiles as he places a kiss on the side of Azula’s head. “Zula?” The young woman moaned lightly in response. “I love you.” Sokka was about to close his eyes when he suddenly heard Azula say in a light whisper. “I love you to.” Sokka’s eyes shot up in surprise, he then smiled once more and snuggled Azula and squeezed her hand, before allowing sleep to take him.
