Sweet whispered
words and soft kisses weren’t the norm in her life until a few years ago. Even
then they hadn’t been frequent either, for the words they exchanged
were usually those of defiance, and the kisses were hard, deep and desperate.
They had enjoyed challenging each other from the start, without suspecting life
would bring them both a greater challenge yet as soon as they lowered their
guard.But as they lay on
the bed, her belly exposed as he caressed it gently, the promised
challenge didn’t look quite as troublesome anymore. Granted, Azula’s
sickness bouts had been dismal, and she dreaded the promised chaos when the
baby arrived, but Sokka’s enthusiasm was reassuring. He would be with her every
step of the way.“Everything okay?”
he asked, when he noticed she was staring. She nodded.“Of course. I’m
only amused by your fascination with my growing womb…” she said. Sokka
chuckled.“With your growing
womb, or with all of you?” he asked, moving upwards to kiss her lips.Azula smiled into
the kiss. Sweet words and soft kisses had become the norm now, and she found she didn’t
mind it one bit.
