2015′s Review!

Because @focusas was wondering if I might make one this year… :’D

The
party noise had bothered Azula as soon as she arrived to Katara’s apartment.
The musical taste of Sokka’s friends, including that of her brother, had never
been appealing to her. Needless to say that blaring said music at full volume
was something she deemed completely unnecessary, but alas, Toph thoroughly
enjoyed listening to her heavy metal at the highest possible volume, claiming
it was her own kind of drug, since the sounds overloaded her senses in an
amazing way.

Thus,
it wasn’t that unexpected for Azula to flee to the apartment’s balcony as she
had. It wasn’t enough to muffle the sounds completely, but it would suffice for
now. She still didn’t understand why Sokka had insisted on joining this party, spending
some alone time in their apartment would’ve been preferable. But Sokka had
gotten his way for once, and he was currently shouting over the loud music in
an attempt to chat with his friends and sister about the year that was wrapping
up right now.

Azula
didn’t join the conversation, not only because she didn’t want to end up with a
sore throat, but because she was busy swiping her way through her phone. Once
in a while she smiled, pleased by the information she was reading. Despite it
all, it had been quite a nice year.

She
surprised herself by hearing footsteps behind her on the balcony. Upon feeling
his familiar hands on her waist, she relaxed into his arms.

“Hey
there, Princess,” he whispered. She answered with a half-hearted groan. “Still mad
at me for dragging you to this party?”

“My
eardrums are, for certain,” Azula replied. Sokka sighed and pressed his face to
her neck. “Instead of having a peaceful evening like last year…”

“We’ll
head home soon. We can stay until the ball drops, right?”

“If
Toph doesn’t destroy the building with her music before it does, maybe,” Azula
replied. Sokka laughed and hugged her close, taking notice of the information
displayed by her cellphone. He grinned.

“So,
what’s the verdict for this year?”

“Well,
it seems the fanfiction has slowed down, disappointingly,” Azula whispered. “A
lot of interesting fics have been left hanging, others were finished…”

“Huh.
I guess so,” said Sokka, nodding. “But some of the fics we got were fun, right?
Even the ones where we weren’t together. There was this funny one about a snow
fight a few days ago…”

“Oh,
I saw it. It was quite enjoyable, especially the part where I hit you with the snow and you thought it was Aang’s doing,” Azula said, smirking.

“Yeah. Of course you loved that part.”

“What can I say? It was quite satisfying,” said Azula, grinning. Sokka chuckled.

“You wicked Princess. Anyhow, on another note, Sokkaweekly’s works were pretty amazing. You sure loved the one where you
were a shapeshifting dragon, didn’t you?”

“What
was there not to love about it?” Azula said, proudly. “I agree, though. It’s a
shame he won’t be working as regularly anymore, but it was good while it lasted.”

“And
hey, you’re Fire Lord now in that crazy fic, ‘It was all Ty Lee’s fault’,
right?”

“Right.
A very good thing to come out of that fic, I must confess,” Azula stated,
smiling.

“There
was also that fluffy fic, ‘Destiny is a funny thing’. The author has been writing
a new fic with us in it, did you see that?”

“Yeah,
but I haven’t checked it out just yet,” Azula said. “I do hope it’s a good
story.”

“It
just might be,” said Sokka, grinning.

“But,
truth be told, I think my favorite part of this year has been the fanarts,”
said Azula, dashing through her phone and opening her photo gallery to glance at
the pictures she was referring to. “I had hoped new artists would show up, but
I didn’t really expect much… it had been a long time since I’d seen such a
burst in fanarts about us.”

“Yeah,
the two of them are seriously great,” said Sokka, nodding. “You saw the latest
one by intolerabletyranny?”

“Ah,
it was quite endearing,” said Azula, smiling. “Though I’m quite certain your
favorite of hers was the bathtub one…”

“Hey,
now, it’s not my fault it was such a good one!” Sokka said, blushing. “T-the lighting
effects were top notch!”

“Oh,
yeah, the lighting effects. No doubt that was what you liked so much,” Azula
repeated, mockingly. Sokka buried his face in her neck.

“Well,
if you must know, I really liked the one where I asked you to have my babies
too…”

“That
one was missing the part where I kicked you in the groin for your troubles,”
said Azula, smirking.

“Yeah,
well… anyways, her art is really amazing. Her coloring style is seriously cool.
I hope we’ll see more of her next year,” said Sokka. Azula nodded.

“And
hopefully we’ll see more of no-eskeipe as well. She has a rather nice style as
well,” Azula said.

“And
she also has a couple of naughty fanarts you’ve grown fond of too, right?”
Sokka said, wiggling his eyebrows. Azula snorted.

“Truth
be told, she does a great job all-around. Her skills with watercolor are top-notch.”

“Especially
when she draws scenes like the one where I proposed to you under the southern
lights,” said Sokka, grinning. Azula smiled as well, pressing against him.

“Or
that one that had an assortment of our memories in a single picture. It’s easily
my favorite one,” she said.

“All
in all, we’re damn lucky, huh? Two awesome new artists, several cool new fics…
and hey, we did bang in Gladiator this year, at long last.”

“Only
took us as good as a hundred chapters,” Azula snorted. “But, admittedly, it was
a nice surprise. I was starting to suspect we would never get physical there…
the real problem now is that we can’t seem to stop fucking.”

“Hey,
I can’t see how that’s a problem,” said Sokka, chuckling mischievously. Azula
rolled her eyes.

“Hopefully
it won’t ever become one, but knowing that little prick, I doubt it.”

“Well,
the little prick wasn’t that terrible this year. The shapeshifter story was
nice, wasn’t it?”

“I
suppose. Her fanart spree in August wasn’t half bad either,” Azula confessed.
Sokka chuckled.

“So
things were pretty good this year too, huh?” he said. Azula nodded.

“With
luck, 2016 will be as good as this year was. Let’s hope so, at the very least,”
said Azula, turning around to face Sokka.

“If
we get another Sokkla Weekend, it just might be,” said Sokka, beaming.

“Perhaps
we can have a whole week this year instead. Perhaps,” said Azula, and Sokka
laughed.

“Always
setting your sights higher and higher, huh, Princess?”

“We’re
out to take it all, Sokka,” said Azula, smirking and cupping his face. “Not in
vain does the Forum’s new picture say that we command the tides, right?”

“Aren’t
we sheer badassery, huh?” said Sokka, grinning proudly.

Azula
snorted and surrounded his neck with her arms, her bad mood forgotten as she
kissed him deeply. Sokka groaned, caressing Azula’s back with his hands as he returned
the kiss. She angled her body into his, sliding her fingers through his short hairs…

“Heeey,
get a room, you two!” Toph shouted, turning down the music just so she could
yell easily at the pair in the balcony.

“Yeah,
save something for when the ball drops, guys!” said Aang, chuckling.

They
were outside the apartment, but the glass doors and panels on the wall allowed everyone
to see them with ease. Katara, as could only be expected, wasn’t too happy
about what her brother was up to with his girlfriend.

“Yes,
please, quit sucking each other’s face,” said Zuko, groaning. “I was eating
just now, don’t make me gag.”

“Oh,
dear, Zuzu is uncomfortable by our displays of affection, Sokka!” Azula said dramatically.
“Whatever shall we do?”

“Huh,
I think our only choice is to suck face for the rest of the night, Azula,” said
Sokka, raising his eyebrows and looking at Azula suggestively. The Princess
chuckled.

“Sounds
about right to me,” she replied, leaning in to kiss Sokka anew, more
passionately and eagerly than before.

Zuko
groaned loudly from the inside of the room, and Toph blared the music loudly again
in hopes to distract them all from the pair in the balcony. But Sokka and Azula
barely seemed to notice the music, busy as they were enjoying each other’s
company. They took brief breaks from kissing whenever they were breathless, but
as soon as they had recovered they started out anew. They kissed as the
countdown began, continued to kiss as the fireworks were launched into the sky,
and long afterwards they still stood in the balcony, holding each other close,
basking in the happiness they felt for having spent one more year loving each
other fully.
